Ow7law tha Masque Mane — Devil Shit: Chapta I EP

Yet another solid cassette coming out of Memphis in the mid-nineties and as with almost all cassettes, here a future LP is directly announced that never arrived. Such a shame, because Outlaw (Ow7law) tha Masque Mane here proves to have talent and a good ear for creepy and scary loops, upon which he spits bars on crime, violence and horrorcore with a slow, regular, good delivery style. Consisting of 7 tracks and just under half an hour of listening, the tape boasts amateur dirt mix and hard downtempo drums, as well as guest appearances by local performers such as Kilo G (he has the same name of a more famous New Orleans rapper), Mr. Tinimaine, NOD and Tom Skeemask. Recommended for Memphis rap fans, it's a good, consistently solid tape (intro and outro are gems; title track sounds as the strongest one), but not irresistible. 7/10.
