Akinyele — Put It in Your Mouth EP

Three years after debut, Akinyele releases a much dirtier EP, title track and the rest of the company are what you might have expected on his '93 CD, if you came to it as a 2 Live Crew fan. Or a Lil Kim one. Anyway of that kind of hip-hop.

Rhythms are provided by Chris Forte, Dr. Butcher, DJ Enuff, Jiv Pos, Frankie Cutlass and EZ Elpee. The only guests are Complexion and Kia Jeffres, who sings the hook on the title track, which is also the most noteworthy cut in this product of five tracks and just over twenty minutes. Published by Stress and distributed by BMG, the project has a good response by the public for an extended play, peaking the top 20 in the rap chart, the top ranking ever for an Akinyele record. Definitely a listening not intended for everyone and perhaps even his most concentrated effort, his LPs could disappoint you. 6/10.
