Hard 2 Obtain — Ism & Blues

Only studio album by Hard 2 Obtain, a rap group from Lakeview, Long Island, consisting of Warren "Taste" Mason, Lorenzo "DL" Smith and Kevin "DJ Six Seven" Calhoun.

The guys are distributed by Atlantic, they get a production made almost entirely from The Stimulated Dummies and scratches by Roc Raida: the record is pleasantly jazz rap, with exclusively boom bap rhythms, slow and tight drums, light samples, some live instrumentation and confident rapping. The tape is appreciable and features few guests, including Artifacts and Raquel (rapper of a Bronx group) in "A Lil Sumething", as well as Vinja Mojica in "Bust Me Down": devoid of too strong or too weak moments, the album also boasts some variations thanks to dark and melancholy vibes every now and then, but it stretches up to 74 minutes of listening in just 16 tracks and doesn't sell well, decreeing the end of the group.

Rating: 7/10.
