Blaq Poet — The Most Dangerous

Seventh effort by Poet. Violent and meaningless as you'd expect it to be, he decently delivers over a musical carpet prepared mainly by Kyo Itachi and Venom: dark, tense, essential jazzy soundscape, sometimes heavily synthesized ("Heavy Mental"), noir ("Manhunt Underway"), scary ("Forever Hood") or disturbing ("Eternal Flames").

As on any Blaq Poet record, most of the songs are hollowed out by their usual theme and generic / mediocre rhythms. The first two choices can be counted among the most successful of the litter: "The Most Dangerous", a dystopian boom bap jazzy, well executed, with a good delivery of Poet and hook left to various samples, preceded by a very tense smooth jazzy bridge, work successful in production. "Lessons of Madness", dark, skeletal, tense jazzy rhythm, pays homage to the theme of "Scarface" / mob movies, decent delivery of Poet, well Ruste Juxx. Some tracks are refreshed by guests like Screwball, Bankai Fam with a disturbing functional hook, Tragedy Khadafi and the fresh flow of Dro Pesci.

Rating: 6/10.
