Sophomore by Chubb Rock (Crooklyn Dodgers), Howie Tee assists him behind the keys again. The title reflects the fact that the Grammys awarded Best Rap Album before the televised broadcast of the show.
The MC maintains its Heavy D funny style and pulls out some tracks with a hardcore rapping and a flow that's a little cumbersome on decent funky rhythms supported by liveable samples (Lyn Collins, The Meters, James Brown, Commodores, Bob James, George Clinton, JBs, Prince, Sly & the Family Stone). After a few cuts, the album starts to sound monotonous, however Howie Tee and Chubb Rock manage to build some honest cuts ("Stop That Train", "Blow The Whistle", "She's With Someone", "Nothing Can Stop Us Now", "Don't Trespass") scattered in this effort.
Released by Select, the LP peaks #28 among rnb albums leaded by the singles "Ya Bad Chubbs" and "Stop That Train", both charting Billboard rap singles. Recommended for fans, 6.3/10.
