Street Military — Another Hit EP

Second EP for the Houston group after last year's one. Not much changes here, gangsta and braggadocio themes on funky and southern breathing rhythms, decent deliveries, solid and cheap effort.

Opens a quite simple track, skeletal and minimal rhythm with slow and syncopated skinny drum machine, the group delivers light-hearted, cheerful and effortless. The other joints are slightly higher, the title track isn't a real "anotha hit", but the g-funk beat gives it a different taste than the other productions. The third song has a cheerful sound and a cheerful delivery, slow syncopated, while "Don't Fuck Over Me" has a lean and simple rhythm, funky but close to the hip house, a little dark.

"Funky Funeral" is one of the best tunes, a minimal funky skinny beat with a tight syncopated drum machine and a slow and energetic syncopated slow delivery, close to hardcore, of the group. Closes "Dead in a Year", simple funky skinny production, functional hook, light eccentric piano in the background with slow but solid syncopated drum machine, deep tense line in the background that gives a dark mood to the beat, slow syncopated and driving delivery in the dark fog of this truly well-made production. The remaining three songs are roughly equal versions of their namesakes.

Rating: 6/10.
