Debut album for Alvin Lowell Trivette aka ALT from El Monte, California, and The Lost Civilization, a support group made up of ALT himself, Showbiz (NOT that Showbiz!), Poet T and Bronz.
The group signs with ATCO Records, a subsidiary of the major Atlantic: the production is provided by the duo formed by Geoff Rios and Mike Green, who leave single rhythms to Baker Boyz ("What Cha Gonna Do", simplistic rhythm with meaningless heavy and harsh drum machine that the performers interpret with a syncopated delivery), Tony G ("Between the Sheets") and Zulu Grimlin (for the skit "Pepe's Tamales").
Normally, the sound of this record is bad, the rhythms are all simplistic, with a harsh 'n heavy drum machine, sometimes lively skinny syncopated, annoying samples, and a mediocre cheerful syncopated delivery by ATL (acronym for Another Latin Timebomb) & Co. I haven't even noticed the female backgrounds, which should be there, are performed by Diane Gordon and Shielah Chambers, while the guests, not even accredited, add nothing. It would be a mediocre and tasteless five out tenths album, but I don't recommend it. 4/10.
