Cataloged as a mixtape, the second collaborative cassette between the two Triple 6 Mafia members Paul Beauregard and Jordan Houston is one of the best ever to come out of Memphis in the nineties.
The album is introduced by dark and gloomy vibes and an ethereal, heavenly melodic female sample. Then comes "Fuck That Nigga", great light and dark piano samples, honest delivery of Project Pat backed by a boom bap with downtempo drum and a pleasantly sad melodic female sample giving "Shining" vibes. Fantastic cut. The next two choices are both made up of single lines looping over dark boom baps with hard, slow drums. With the Memphis classic "Smoked Out, Loced Out", the tape secures a respectable spot among the best rap records of the year: along with DJ Paul and Juicy J, there are Lord Infamous, Gangsta Blac, Project Pat and Kingpin Skinny Pimp, which deliver on one of the best rhythms of the tape, composed of dark samples and an excellent downtempo drum. Skit, then other lines in loop on disturbing samples and downtempo drum. "Where Da Bud" is a solo by Lord Infamous, which spits two verses with an eclectic style on a minimal and somber production.
Track number nine is made up of other single lines looped over drum downtempo and dark vibes. Here comes the Kingpin Skinny Pimp solo in "Psychopatic Lunatic", on the usual dark boom bap beat, with slow and tight drum and an excellent triumphant break. It follows yet another track with looped line on dark rhythm and downtempo drum machine, which precedes "Busta Azz Nigga", piece by DJ Paul and Juicy J who deliver with a slow style. Koopsta Knicca performs solo in "Break a Hoe", with Project Pat hook along with a MJG sample, over a great musical carpet by DJ Paul, which places downtempo drum, sad melodic samples and splendid breaks. The producer keeps melodic samples also for the next choice, performed together with Juicy J. Track fifteen boasts other good melodic, dark samples and the sound of vinyl in the background, to support the vicious rap of the duo 3 6. The last song is performed by Skinny Pimp and DJ Paul on minimal downtempo drum and cheerful triumphant samples, before the final thanks.
Consisting of 17 cuts and around 62 minutes of listening, the tape features one of DJ Paul's best productions and competent rap performed by the Triple 6 Mafia and affiliates such as Kingpin Skinny Pimp and Gangsta Blac. Recommended to Memphis rap fans.
Rating: 8/10.
