Lost Secret — Queens Hall of Science

In 2007 Lost Secret, the duo formed by Joseph "G-Clef" Cavaseno and Archangel Metraton, released their first studio album. The guests are Buddha Monk of Brooklyn Zu, Christ Bearer of North Star, Mowie Ket, Jakineko, B.'. Yakin Allah, G-Clef's group Soul Kid Klik, D the Dragon, Malik Kahaar Ali, Ced Gee, Seoul Kid Mike, Storm da Ghetto Mutant and Allah Real.

After the intro with Mowie Ket, the album begins to take shape with "Les Mysteres": good boom bap production with a smooth and gorgeous light jazz loop. The rhythm is intelligently left to breathe and the rap of the performers is good. A skit from a kung-fu movie opens the third track on a tense, swirling beat, G-Clef performs his lyrics in a slow hardcore style on one of the album's least successful tracks. “Sixteen Crucified Messiahs” features a robust boom bap with a hard midtempo dry drum and a good loop to support G-Clef's rapping.

Jakineko, girl member of G-Clef's group Yalloppin' Hounds, joins the lead rapper on “What If God Was a Girl", a battle rap over an uptempo beat that inaugurates a long series of cuts with guests, six in a row. After a skit it comes a well-made boom bap, with a good sample and a drum which, on the contrary, is sparse, hard, skeletal and cheap: G-Clef is together with B.'. Yakin Allah in this piece. Wu-Tang Clan-affiliated North Star emcee Christ Bearer guests on "The Biff Song", the loop is there, but no really noteworthy track comes out.

"Sicilian Kombat" is another story: the guys behind the keyboards do a nice job, there's a great loop with oriental vibes and a skeletal drum to build this boom bap, inside is the G-Clef's group Soul Kid Klik in one of the best cuts on the album. "Godz and Msonz" is also on that level: producers create great boom bap, dry and shiny drums, tense jazz loops, G-Clef spits with confidence, Buddha Monk of Brooklyn Zu takes the tune to the next level. Immediately afterwards, the disc undergoes a small flexion.

"Conspiracy Theory" is plagued by a bad beat, where a screeching sax loop is paired with another horrible sound, D the Dragon is inside along with Clef, but no one is able to save this thing. Track number eleven is G-Clef's first solo track in half an hour: honest midtempo dry drum, tense elegant loop, good boom bap, slow and good hardcore rapping from the author. "Requiem for the Fallen", good light jazz loop, dark vibes, good midtempo hard drum, slow hardcore rap by the performers. "Mad Hatter" is one of the below average songs on this tape.

Ced Gee is a guest on the next song on dry, drawn-out drums and a jazz loop, good rapping from the guys. “Arrest the Planet” features an uptempo beat that steals from a James Brown classic (“Arrest the President”, which the song references). "March of the Damned" is G-Clef's latest solo cut: boom bap with stupid samples but it's okay, there's a good hook even if the song doesn't sound as good as the others. Allah Real performs a dope hook in "Here We Go Again", light boom bap, light downtempo dry drum, gorgeous sax loop, good rap from G-Clef. "End of the Beginning" is the last song on the album, there are good loops, an honest rhythm, a good rap from Clef and Storm da Ghetto Mutant, guy in G-Clef's group Soul Kid Klik, but the song is a little below average.

Released on G-Clef da Mad Komposa labels ChamberMusik, Soul Kid Records and Yalloppin Entertainment, overall, the album is honest, there are no bad or excellent pieces, most of the material offered is average for the period, although there are some interesting excerpts. 6/10.
