Instrumental album of the third chapter of the "Whateva" series, work realized by the producer Cookin Soul. It opens a simple jazzy boom bap with slow drum and good samples to form an energetic rhythm.
"Bigger Picture" has a more relaxing sound, thanks to a regular drum and a light rhythm; the third track also maintains soothing vibes and a light jazzy sound, with a lean, slow syncopated drum machine and good samples. At instrumental song number four, the beatmaker provides a beautiful elegant piano looped in the background, coupled with a slow and pounding syncopated skinny drum machine: good choice of samples and good jazzy boom bap that returns other relaxing vibes. "Cole Fly Beat" has perhaps the best rhythm of this selection: great samples, light vibrating drum, light and minimal jazzy boom bap, wonderful.
The sixth song has a good piano and rnb vibes, slow and simple piece. "So High" features a good male soul sample looped in the background, lean slow drum, simple boom bap and beautiful strings. The eighth track follows, "Jimmy Jump Theme": this rhythm claims the award as the best beat of "Whateva III" thanks to this blessed sax sample in the background, the drum is almost perfect, dirty, there's a soul vocal sample looped and chopped and an irresistible bridge. Dope cut. The ninth instrumental is slightly inferior to the previous ones, good samples, slow pounding drum machine, energetic boom bap, good rhythm. Closes "Toosie Beat": rhythm obviously close to trap, but here Cookin Soul does a good job, it doesn't completely change the rhythm chosen by those tiktok dancers and makes it both hip-hop and livable. Obviously, it's not the best of the tape, but it's worth giving it an honorable mention.
Not Cookin Soul's best selection of rhythms, but it's pretty pleasant and there are a couple of great beats.
Highlights: "Cole Fly Beat", "So High", "Jimmy Jump Theme".
