Master P — Mama's Bad Boy

Second studio album made by Master P, the production is worse than the debut, provided by (E-A-)Ski, CMT and the rapper himself, while the lyrics veer on horrorcore and violent, gangsta and braggadocio topics.

The boy here doesn't commit himself and puts on autopilot to make this record, fourteen songs, fifty minutes, two guests, one outside his Miller family, none outside his No Limit family. The tracks are very similar to each other, the tape is opened by a shooting, then a tense and dark rhythm with g-funk synths, slow skinny slow syncopated drum machine and slow syncopated delivery of Master P, lame hook.

"Bloody Murder" has an annoying sound looped tightly in the background, bad rhythm, while "Eyes of a Killer" is one of the worst cuts on the LP, skinny drum, slow and tight drum, bland lame slow delivery, cut short but too lame. The following track resembles a funky ballad with female soul samples, the following ones are quite mediocre, all of them, some have light funky accessible rhythms, others less so: "Premeditated Murder" for example has a heavy snare drum, it's an instrumental choice that sucks, easily skippable, followed by a ballad. He closes the record with his thanks to friends and relatives etc. Hard and raw texts, horrible economic production, Master P realizes a forced and mediocre sophomore that receives harsh criticism from specialized music reviewers, not recommended.

Rating: 3/10.
