Madhattan & IceRocks — Kitchen Chronicles EP

Collaborative EP between rapper Madhattan and producer IceRocks, both from New York.

The extended play is opened by "GPS" that boasts a dark melodic female sample accompanied by rattles and downtempo snare drum, Madhattan chooses a chanting delivery, proving to be among the few to sound well on both boom bap and trap beats. The second track features relaxed vibes with an honest loop and regular drum, smooth slow rap by the MC. "DrumRoll" has a dry midtempo drum with tight male melodic soul samples, Madhattan sounds decently.

Track number four is made up of sad looped strings, dry midtempo snare drum and a great delivery of Madhattan, slow, calm, dirty, dusty, dope flow. The fifth choice features the EP's only guests: on a boom bap with dirty guitar riffs and dry, hard midtempo drum, Mav Montana and Rome Streetz spit bars along with Madhattan. The last joint is "Inverted Cross", a musical masterpiece offered by IceRocks: the producer flips a thriller / horror movie sample, the typical one in which killer dolls come to life. Perfect downtempo drum, dark samples, slow rap style provided by the MC who rides the gloomy atmosphere of the beat.

6-track 18-minute EP, good production by IceRocks, competent rap by Madhattan. 7/10.
