Edo. G — Lost Treasures EP

EP of 18 minutes and 5 pieces for Edo G, veteran from Boston, Massachusetts.

"All These Years" is a decent track, jazzy boom bap with tight drum and female soul sample, the rapper delivers with his slow style along with Jaysaun. A solo joint follows, Edo G delivers smooth and slow over a second jazzy rhythm, with an energetic and pounding drum machine, and a female soul sample too distant to give a consistent effect to the choice. Production drops drastically on track three, with a simplistic and cheap beat, annoying wacky sounds, a dry and pounding drum, and a bad-sounding chorus.

The tape improves with "Upper Hand", another cheap rhythm with tight, pounding and fast drum machine and a poor sample. The MC closes his braggadocio tape with "Wishing Original": jazzy boom bap, quick energetic, squeeze and pounding drum, female soulful sample and Masta Ace's smooth slow delivery, livening up a good track; the hook is left to the sample, then Edo G closes smoothly and more inspired than before, making the best cut of these 20 minutes.

Only the last piece is worthwhile, the rest is generic and not particularly well executed between delivery and production. 6/10.
