Second EP by producer Real Bad Man, composed in a similar way to the previous one, with 5 tracks and about 18 minutes of listening, and competent guests. Collaborate Blu, Lojii, Posdnuos of De La Soul, Elcamino, Flee Lord (already present in the first edition), Boldy James, Eto, Inspectah Deck of Wu-Tang Clan and Willie the Kid.
"Real Man" is the first joint of the second volume of the "On High Alert" series, Blu and Lojii deliver decently on a simple production, boom bap with dry and hard drum: rappers have to add something to make the track stand out, but with Posdnuos it's always complicated, his flow is soporific. It seems that the mix doesn't push Elcamino's slow style over a rhythm as Griselda as possible made by Real Bad Man, with a dark mood and a lean midtempo drum. "Flashback" maintains a Griselda identity: by coincidence, I'm writing a few paragraphs on a Big Ghost tape where the tracks and rhythms of the album "Griselda Ghost" are present on several occasions and in this cut one is sampled, "Fendi Seats".
Wonderful soundscape, slowed down with loud uptempo tight drum, hardcore delivery by Flee Lord, Boldy chooses an effortless style. "My Name Gets Underlined" boasts Rebel INS and Eto on the mic: boom bap, haunting short loop, slow syncopated delivery of Inspectah Deck on a decent midtempo drum, with decent samples. The piece doesn't seem destined to take off, but Eto arrives and raises the level with a spatial, dominant flow. It closes a solo of Willie the Kid, on an honest production.
Overall, the beats sound lower than the first volume, but the EP is loaded with great guests and is worth at least a couple of spins, 6.7/10.
