Fat Boys — Mack Daddy

The Fat Boys seem to find their dimension in the early nineties, on what will be their last album. Mark "Prince Markie Dee" Morales left the group, now composed only of Buff Love, the unique producer of this CD, and Kool Rock-Ski.

The production assists them with successful skeletal and tight funky rhythms and some female soul samples in the background which is always a good thing. What has become a duo tries various types of delivery, sounding often forced, banal or inappropriate, at best it's decent in some attempt that comes out half-hardcore, mixing mainly the new rap trend new jack swing, with a bit of funk and pop rap.

The boys leave Stettler's Tin Pan Apple, which had launched their career in 1984, and sign with Emperor Records. Distributed by Ichiban Records, for the first time the boys don't release any single in promotion of the album, which makes a cameo in the rnb album chart (#89) before disappearing, decreeing the definitive end of the Fat Boys. 5/10.
