New Jersey rapper Rasheed Chappell releases his third studio album, completely produced by Rochester artist 38 Spesh. Planet Asia, Jamal Gasol, The Musalini and Che Noir are the guests of the tape.
The first cut has one of the best rhythms of the edition, light, with an excellent sample. It precedes "Ironhead", jazzy boom bap with lively and vibrant drum machine, good tight sample looped in the background and a smooth raw slow delivery. Planet Asia is the first guest on the tape, in "Rules & Conduct": nice jazzy boom bap soundscape, good samples, lanky slow syncopated drum machine that perfectly supports Rasheed Chappell's slow flowing dope delivery; Planet Asia is called to close the joint, the production of 38 Spesh was born for a hardcore flow like Lil Fame or for a velvet one like G Rap: Planet Asia from this point of view disappoints, but he fulfills his task and carries out the track with the his style discreet, not excellent.
"TRUST" has a slightly inferior rhythm than the others, despite excellent jazzy samples and a slow drum, Chappell lets the beat breathe, then delivers with a slow and flowing style, closes Jamal Gasol. The fifth piece sees a new jazzy production of Spesh, with good samples and slow drum, Chappell does well in his second solo track. The Musalini closes a good jazzy song in "Mutual Respect", with a rhythmic delivery, while Che Noir is the last guest of the tape: fresh jazzy boom bap, good delivery by Chappell, then Che Noir enters and she has another step, velvety, fluid, effective, fantastic.
This record is a sort of EP of 7 songs and 19 minutes in total: 38 Spesh holds up the entire production, while Rasheed Chappell is going strong, although, according to me, he still cannot hold on to an entire solo album, or even a longer EP, around half an hour, without supporting guests.
