Yet another gangsta act inspired by NWA, Compton's Most Wanted debut album, that is one of the most important groups on the West Coast in the early nineties.
Led by MC Eiht, also including MC Chill, DJ Slip and Unknown DJ, on an excellent, smooth and relaxed funky production, composed of often accessible, simple and syncopated beats, excellent funky samples, jazzy vibes and a slow, minimal and skinny drum machine, MC Eiht provides a slow smooth, crisp, raw, fresh and dope rapping focusing its violent themes on the braggadocio that contrast with the rhythms and go to create a fun and hardcore album. Recommended to gangsta fans.
Highlights: "I Give Up Nuthin". Amazing hook left at the jazzy dope rhythm, minimal, skinny and tight, excellent deep looped jazzy line in the background, smoothness delivery gangsta by Eiht, cut among the best here, fantastic. "This Is Compton", "Last Night Hype". Ballad g-funk relaxed, considered among the pioneers of its genre. "It's a Compton Thang". Excellent simple rhythm, minimal, light, accessible, lean and tight, jazzy, with lively and skeletal drum machine, good slow and flowing delivery of MC Eiht, bells dope in the background, but in general excellent elements and distant sounds, splendid sample soulful to accompany the functional hook.
Rating: 7.8/10.
