Compilation of artists that sounds like a great showcase for No Limit Records rappers, there's plenty of room for many performers: 26 songs (1 skit), 116 minutes.
Production is provided by Steve Pitts, Smoke 1 Productions, Mo B Dick, Pimp C, Chico, Don Gibbs, Polo, Ken Franklin, Fire, Al Eaton, DJ Snake, Jim Gardiner, Carlos Stephens, C-Loc, KLC, Master P, Larry D, Maestro, Coop MC, Blast Productions, 20-2-Life, Carlos, Sean Jemison, Money Mike, Dope E, Egypt E, Klondike Kat, Point Blank and DJ Screw. The performers are The Dayton Family, Eightball & MJG, UGK, Master P, Silkk, Chico & 187, MIa X, Suga T, Joe Blakk, C-Murder, Partners in Crime, PKO, Tre-8, Skull Dugrey, C- Loc, Magnolia Slim, CCG, King George, Gangsta T, Coop MC, Fire, 20-2-Life, PSK-13, Mr. Serv On, Polo, Sir True, ESG, Hounds from Gert-Twon, Niggas Out the Ghetto and Point Blank.
The lyrics on the album mostly focus on gangsta, thug and street topics, while the music is deeply cheap and generic, southern with squeaky and poor synths that cloud the whole project, entering everywhere with an often annoying sound, the rhythms aren't melodic like those of mobb music, even if perhaps they're inspired by the Bay Area scene. The end result can be regarded as one of the best compilations in No Limit history — credit to Eightball & MJG, UGK, Master P, Joe Blakk, Tre-8, Sir True — but it's overly erratic, with mostly effortless and light-hearted rapping, preferring quantity to quality.
Highlights: "F' Dem N'", "Playaz from the South", "Can't Trust No Man", "Way Down South", "Hustlin'", "Fright Night" (smoothness, hardcore, urgent delivery by Tre-8, dope style, on a boom bap with downtempo drum machine and excellent dark samples, immaculate beat), "RIP", "Don't Understimate Me", "So Much Pain", "My Mind Went Blank (Screwed)".
Rating: 7.5/10.
