LP number twelve for Reks, rapper from Lawrence, Massachusetts, for two decades in the underground circuit. The project consists of just under an hour of material divided into nineteen tracks.
The guests are Pharoahe Monch and Lil Fame, among others. The production is handled by Nottz, Apollo Brown, Marco Polo, Evidence, Statik Selektah, Mephux, Jon Glass, Shortfyuz, Drugs Beats, Andre X and G Wguz. Reks writes lyrics on different subjects, socio-conscious and personal themes, on music recorded by several talented guys. Despite the efforts of the people involved, the record doesn't hold anything that you can really write about, the first half is quite solid with accessible rhythms, good rapping and Monch in one of the strongest choices of the tape ("The Complex"), then the second section of the CD sees a drop in quality, tracks that feel unnecessary and some questionable and tasteless beats (the potential of Marco Polo's rhythms isn't exploited, while Apollo Brown places a couple of second-rate music carpets). "R.E.K.S. (Rhythmatic Eternal King Supreme)" remains the point of reference in the artist's discography.
Rating: 6/10.
