Count Bass D — CBD

Lo-fi rhythms, all generic but decent, Count Bass D doesn't seem to want to deliver, performs sluggish, lazy and slow, weak, unwilling, almost mumble.

The production offers interesting variations, twirling between midtempo, minimal and simple, frenetic, tight, and skinny jazzy rhythms, while the drum machine does what it wants, syncopated, skeletal and heavy, pulling violent sticks in the background. None of these musical choices is adequately addressed, hooks, triumphal strings and g-funkian synths are of little use, the rapper continues to deliver in a ridiculously weak, never inspired way, always creating poor tunes despite average-good lyricism. The only flash of energy comes to him in "Show Love", where after a decent instrumental choice, the rapper brings out a decent regular delivery on a light and urgent rhythm.

The game is too crowded to allow you to (make you) waste time with these twenty minutes: recommended if you like soft rap or mumble rap, otherwise avoid it. 5/10.
