Intro with skit overbeat by Noreaga, then splendid boom bap jazzy light, and another skit. It follows a vibrant and heavy beat, jazzy rhythm, tight, with frenetic rhythm; Big Punisher delivers heavy and powerful, smooth, great cut. The third track is a version of "Dream Shattered" (Big Pun classic) where Cookin Soul choose a tight and frenetic rhythm with jazzy vibes and vibrant boom bap for the smooth and powerful delivery of the Terror Squad rapper. The next one is "Red Made Men": female soulful sample looped in background, tight, ethereal, great delivers by Big Pun in a short track close to the minute. Skit by Fat Joe, then Joe himself introduce "Twinz React", jazzy extravagant rhythm with flute in background and hardcore boom bap for the remix of one of the most famous song dropped in Pun's career.
The seven song is "Running Across da Bronx": Cookin Soul cut Big Pun verse from "Cross Bronx Expressway" by the album "Make It Reign" of Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz and let it flowing on the musical carpet of J Dilla's & The Pharcyde "Runnin'", splendid cut. Boom bap simplistic and hardcore for "Oh No Donnt Push", a remix of "Oh No (Remix)" by NORE, produced by The Neptunes, originally. Here, first verse by Capone, then Pun, annoying hook realized by Angie Martinez, then Jadakiss before Maze & Musolini, the track is closed by Noreaga himself. For "Leather Face Pt 2", the beatmaker choose a simple and hardcore rhythm in one of the pretty average tracks of this tape.
The next one is another simplistic and hardcore beat, poor/cheap, syncopated boom bap, average choice. "JunKilla" isn't really too much better: almost same low-fi beat, minimal, simplistic, pseudo-jazzy vibes, Pun delivers dope but the rhythm doesn't play for its team. Then, Cookin Soul tries to make a good production for the last "real" track, "Thug vs Player", minimal clapping in background, jazzy light rhythm for the deeply smooth of Big Pun; then change of rhythm, simple and minimal boom bap jazzy, another good test for Punisher, vicious soul/R&B female sample looped for the hook.
Highlights: "Toes Down", "Dream Shattered", "Running Across da Bronx".
Rating: 6.7/10.
