Tyga — Legendary

Album number seven for Michael Ray "Tyga" Stevenson, rapper and actor born and raised in Compton, California, before moving to Gardena. He was born to Vietnamese and Jamaican parents.

He hasn't put a song on the charts in three years. He has not been called as a guest for three years. His career in the rap industry seems to be over. Then comes "Taste". The rapper accelerates a slow beat of D.A. Doman and guess his best production ever: the drum is right, the male sample is compelling, everything works. The rhythm is so good that not even the absurd bars spitting out by Tyga can stop it, with a last verse by Offset. The single is an international hit and reaches the top ten of the Hot 100, seven times platinum. The rapper raises his career and returns to be present on other albums. Supported by "Taste", he shows up with his new LP.

Production isn't all bad, but nothing touches that level. Guests are only there to increase sales and add nothing. About the lyrics, the less we talk about it, the better: it's always a Tyga album, it's ridiculous and embarrassing all the time. There's also a deep deluxe edition that stretches the album from 42 minutes to 80, with nine additional tracks and more guests. Released by his label and by EMPIRE, the album is ranked worldwide, is in the top 20 among pop albums, sixth among independent releases and in the rap chart, certified platinum. Now, a countless series of good remixes have come out of "Taste", I would like to point out two of them: one by DJ Forgotten who puts 2Pac & Biggie on the same rhythm and it makes you understand what real MCs would sound like on this thing, the other is from Cookin Soul, which gives a summery tone to the song and makes it the classic it could be despite Tyga.

Rating: 2/10.
