Poison Clan — Poisonous Mentality

Typical LP that could easily be liquidated with a single line, and the line would be: «pathetic misogynist gangsterist who spits sh*t on fu**ing and killing for too long.»

Debonaire leaves the duo after the first album and go to compose its duo, Home Team, while JT Money keeps the group name and replaces him with two other guys (Madball & Uzi), holding the reins of the record most of the time. The production is provided by DJ Mike Fresh, already known in the miami bass scene: his rhythms are simplistic, frantic, lean, with slow syncopated drum machine and poor choice of samples.

These beats are mediocre minimal just as you expect them from a miami bass album, even in dark ("Fugitive"), hip-rock ("No Haps") and hip house ("Shake Watcha 'Mama Gave Ya') variations. Lyrically, there's not much to worry about: Mr. Jeffrey Thompkins delivers one of the most ignorant performances of the year, inspired by the best of the dirty south worst, with lyrics that are a bit gangsta and very misogynistic, almost worse than NWA, he genuinely enjoys insulting, denigrating, robbing, humiliating and killing all kinds of girls with that youthful unconsciousness that should be investigated and studied carefully in the appropriate places, but he doesn't exaggerate so much [like the NWA] and in the end, he cannot do other than to repeat continuously for an hour.

There are twenty-four tracks, including one of five and a half minutes of thanks only, however the numerous skits present (9) kill the fluidity and duration of the listening, making it insipidly useless: it's a bad and forgettable effort. It would be interesting to hear what this dude would have to say during "yo mama rap battles", but when the game gets serious, when the game gets tough, when you have to knock down a TRUE album in the TRUE rap game, then you better stay home.

Rating: 4/10.
