Debut album for the duo composed of Isadore Francois aka MC Izzy Ice and Roderick Wiggins aka DJ Majesty. These guys from New York signed to Rowdy Records and produced a 52-minute record split into 18 tracks, 6 skits.
The rapping of Izzy Ice isn't revolutionary, the boy chooses pretty generic themes, delivering some honest narration and some braggadocio verses, making a tape quite forgettable from the point of view of the lyrics. On the other hand, DJ Majesty does a nice job behind the keyboards: his production is solid and coherent, falling on jazzy boom bap, robust and malleable drum machines, minimal rhythms, honest samples rarely wrong (stupid choice in the sixth track, while "Tears" is a strong track held back by an imperfect sample). The union of this simple, regular soundscape and the rapper's flowing slow delivery style allows the jazz rap record to run smoothly and for a long time, despite several unnecessary interruptions. Due to the low income, after the release of the album the duo broke up: recommended to East Coast fans of the early nineties, some might find it musically interesting.
Highlights: "Krak da Weazel", "Tears", "Ghetto Instinct".
Rating: 7/10.
