Logic — Supermarket

In 2019, Logic releases his fifth studio album, which accompanies his first novel of the same name about a dude employed in a supermarket. Judging by the title alone, there's not much fantasy in either the novel or the record, a thought confirmed by listening to the LP.

Robert Bryson watched Frank Sinatra on TV as a child and thought he could become like him when he grew up, misusing the name "Young Sinatra" until he landed in the mainstream, and this is his attempt to get closer to his idol. Unfortunately, it's not something vaguely successful, because the album is sung by a boy who cannot sing.

The lyrics are among the worst written in his career, however, the music is even worse: the rapper completely abandons hip-hop and attempts a glorious and impossible Pindaric leap into the alt rock / indie pop scene with light, generic and tasteless musical choices. Each track of these 49 minutes seems to be the parody of a different pop group, from Queen to Coldplay, from Radiohead to Red Hot Chili Pepper, without sparing a few stabs in the back of rap with the parodies of A Tribe Called Quest and Biz Markie. When he's not singing, the boy mumbles something, doing everything to make what will be considered one of the worst albums of the year.

Completely ignored by specialized critics and definitively nipped, killed and buried forever by the few admirable professionals who have been forced against their will to listen and pull down a couple of lines by their publishers, this project is also a commercial flop, with very disappointing sales results: embarrassing and impossible to listen to and overcome, absolutely not recommended. 0.5/10.
