East LA trio formed by rappers David "Kemo the Blaxican" Thomas and Ivan "Ives Irie" Martin together with DJ and producer Alejandro "O.G. Style" Martinez.
The boys have the lucky intuition to slow down a wonderful song by Herb Alpert from his first CD which is the backdrop to four minutes of rap in Spanglish: "Tres Delinquentes" is born, a title taken from the original name of the group, a banger that launched the group's career and led to their first album. Fourteen tracks produced by O.G. Style, except one left to Eric Bobo, and guests such as Sen Dog, a member of Cypress Hill who financed the album, and Hurricane G.
The album lives in the group's Mexican roots and overall is one of the most solid products to come out of the West Coast in 1996, thanks to fresh and lively boom bap production that successfully delves into the seventies, and competent rapping from the two emcees. Published by PMP Records, Loud and RCA, distributed worldwide by BMG, the album gets a good response from the public and the lead single "Tres Delinquentes" also convinces in Europe.
Highlights: "Tres Delinquentes", "What It Be Like", "The Realm", "S.A.L.T.", "Good Times", "When the Stakes Are High".
Rating: 7/10.
