Dubee AKA Sugawolf — Dubee AKA Sugawolf

In 1995, Major "Dubee aka Sugawolf" Norton signed with Young Black Brotha Records which at the time had a distribution agreement with Atlantic, and the following year released his first self-titled LP.

Khayree realizes most of the rhythms, three are reserved for Ferg. The lyrics are simple and mirror the Bay Area pimpin' and mackin' tradition, and the music provided by Khayree sounds so good that it seems wasteful on first listen, despite not abounding in g-funk synths, mobb samples, bass lines and soft and accessible drum machines. The little imagination of the rapper from Vallejo, who will later be part of The Cutthoat Committee along with Mac Mall, Mac Dre and PSD, is compensated by a decent style and good funky production that runs well for nearly 70 minutes, with half of the songs going over five minutes, and two solo songs by guests Mac Dre and Reek Daddy. Personally, it doesn't come close to the goodness of other Bay Area performers and Khayree's label disks, but it must be admitted that it's not easy for this album to immediately click for the East Coast heads.

Rating: 7/10.
