Havoc & Prodeje — Kickin' Game

Havoc & Prodeje improves their music on their second album, which came out about a year and a half after the debut.

Entirely produced by Prodeje, it maintains strong ties with the South Central Cartel, hosting LV on half the album, as well as Havikk the Rhime Son, Hot Dolla, Evil Skeem, Young Prod, Portia, Mr. Wesside, Daddy D, Gangsta Wayne, Powerlord Jel, Young Dee and Young Money. The guys drop generic gangsta themes that feature little variation and are performed with a relaxed and slow style (hardcore towards the end) on an excellent g-funk production by Prodeje with slow and hard drums, and melodic mobb samples, sometimes accompanied by rnb hooks and strings in the background, if I'm not mistaken. Released by Pump and GWK with Warlock distribution, the album hits the rap chart, flowing smoothly past the hour over the course of 16 cuts (and one avoidable skit): beyond the not easy realization of the music video, the single "G'z on da Move" is one of the highlights of the album, boasting a wonderful production, with accessible midtempo drum, mobb sounds, rnb-soulful hook sung by LV and a relaxed slow delivery from the duo. It's one of the SCC's best documents, recommended to West Coast fans.

Rating: 7.5/10.
