EP by Naughty by Nature that comes out surprisingly nine years after the last effort, almost ignored by public and critics. Same fate seems to be reserved for this long extended play, almost half an hour for seven songs without skits.
"Cold World" opens, a decent light jazzy boom bap ruined immediately by a sung R&B chorus; there's a good syncopated drum machine in the background, but the group delivery is uninspired. "What Now" follows, a light, syncopated jazzy boom bap, soulful male hook, simple delivery, easy-going by the group. "The Projects" and "Respect" are slightly better: both have a simple jazzy boom bap with skeletal and syncopated drum machine, the rappers seem more inspired, smooth and rapid flow, but the hooks are functional, simple.
"Hard Times" features a simple, essential, tight jazzy rhythm with a minimal drum machine and whispered delivery. It seems they want to make a song similar to Nas's "One Mic", with little success. The sixth song features a soft soulful hook from TRAMP BABY, on a generic and light jazzy rhythm, generic and smooth delivery, but they don't seem inspired here either. The loosie "Wifey Material" closes, a meager, poor, weak rhythm, a skeletal and syncopated drum machine, a weak hook and a quite lackluster delivery of the group despite the mature theme of the song.
Rating: 6/10.
