Freeway returns to the circuit, despite his serious health problems, and releases his first solo album in four years, his second with Babygrande Records. The boy still shows that he's hungry in an album that features some of the best productions of his career, courtesy of Frank & Scholito, Girl Talk, LES, Tryfe, Chemist and Money Alwayz.
The effort boasts no big names behind the keyboards, and it's a further demonstration of the fact that big names aren't always synonymous with quality and that with attention even less popular guys can help forge a solid record. Topics revolve around braggin', thuggin' and street themes, with some personal verses. Over this boom bap jazzy and soulful, Free delivers like a machine-gun, focused, polished, rough, strong, destroying everything and taking the lead from the leader ("Intro", "Addiction", "Highway", "Legendary") or delivering quitly ("Hot as Ice", with a great bass line), fast ("I'm Back"; corny hook) fighting for the top and realizing strong tracks. In "Kane & Abel", LES returns to his golden years with a great production.
Freeway creates another effort living in nostalgia, still holding up his State Property group name and bringing in Young Buck of G-Unit as guest, who's at his best on "We Thuggin" and adds something to bring Free back to his former glory over a right hard production. Influenced by trap sonorities, this it's a good tape by Freeway, 6.5/10.
