TRU — Who's da Killer?

Album number two for TRU (The Real Untouchable), a collective led by Master P. Within the group, in addition to the relatives of the leader Miller, there are also King George, Challi G, Milk Man and Big Ed. The disk is produced by Spoonie, Master P, Charles, CMT & EA-Ski.

It's one of the first artists, if not the first, to insert a skit from the movie "Scarface" (1983), with Tony Montana talking, then simple boom bap, slow and pounding syncopated skinny drum machine, synth g-funk in the background, slow delivery by the group, simple hook; the first song is also the longest one on the disc, with nearly eight minutes. It follows a lean g-funk rhythm, with annoying synths.

The lyrics of the group could fix these economic beats; however, the lyricism of this collective is again focused on the generic gangsta and doesn't offer many ideas to talk about. Their overall performance is underwhelming, the music isn't completely horrible, but their delivery style never quite fits the beats, and no one kills the tracks. There are nearly six minutes in the third track: simple rhythm, tense strings looped in the background, drum pounding, simple delivery.

"Talk About It" also has a low and cheap rhythm, with jazzy and dark vibes and a looped piano, but the group here is lazier than usual. "Check Your Bitch" features a production clearly inspired by Moroder in the film "Scarface", again; synth electro tense dope, soulful female sample, skinny slow syncopated drum machine, delivery with raw style. A skit divides the album in two, the second part is rather forgettable, more than the first one, with lean and simple beats, little inspiration ("Ghetto Is a Trap"; it would have a decent jazzy rhythm) before the final thanks on guitar riff.

Quite forgettable album, clearly inferior to the debut, with generic lyrics, fourth-league rapping and decent economic rhythms, but little appreciated by the performers themselves. 4/10.
