Third studio album by The Real Untouchables aka TRU, group consisting of Master P, Silkk the Shocker and C-Murder. The production is handled by Ken Franklin, Master P, Al Eaton, Mo B Dick, DJ Daryl, CMT, EA-Ski, Silk, Craig Lawson and Larry D. The guests of the tape are Mia X, C-Bo, King George, Big Ed, Carmen Taylor, Mr. Serv-On, Uhuru Wright and Tobin Costen.
Master P at the time is still in Richmond, California: the rapping of the boys sounds similar to that of the West Coast performers, with an often slow, chanting, melodic cadence and the rhythms of the album are influenced by the West Coast sound, with many squeaky and annoying g-funk synths and random mobb samples, combined with lean and cheap drums.
Lyrically, the tape runs on generic gangsta lyrics without too much inventiveness, with some barely decent narration and little else. Basically the beats are there and except for Master P, there's no one to spit worthily in rap (I wanna save the performances of Mia X). Among the highlights, "I'm Bout' It, Bout It", a hit that dragged the record to rank in the rap chart, the first LP by TRU to do so, also thanks to the agreement with Priority.
The tape, exhausting with 20 songs, several skits and 74 minutes overall, is easily forgettable and doesn't keep faith with its West Coast roots: the boys allow themselves more quotes to Biggie in "Keep It Jumping" sampling his song with Total and honoring "Juicy" on the hook. Not recommended, 5/10.
