Ol' Dirty Bastard — The Definitive Ol' Dirty Bastard Story

Not a year has passed since Russell "Ol' Dirty Bastard" Jones died from an overdose, when Elektra decided it was time to make money on his corpse again in 2005, after making a first unsuccessful attempt in 2001 with a first compilation. BZA wasn't dead at the time, but man, you know what I mean, he couldn't stand up on his own anymore.

This second compilation isn't too different from the previous one: there are ten of the same eleven songs as before (excluding without reason "Dirty Dancin'"), to which are added an alternative version of "Brooklyn Zoo" from "Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version", the title track, "Rollin' Wit You" and "All in Together Now" from "N***a Please", "Give It to Ya Raw" from "O.D.B.E.P." and "Ghetto Superstar" by Pras, a choice in which ODB is only present for entering in the wrong recording studio.

There are so many stories behind every single piece of Ol' Dirty, however, this shoddy and botched collection never feels essential: if you like "N***a Please", listen to that. If you want to hear the best of him, "Return to 36 Chambers" will remain untouched for eternity. This is just a confusing money-making mess and except for a few moments ("Proteck Ya Neck II: the Zoo", "Raw Hide") there aren't Wu-Tang or affiliates to join the party, offset by too many pop rap moments... Not recommended, do not buy.
