YoungBoy Never Broke Again — Still Flexin, Still Steppin [mixtape]

The numbers cannot be discussed. First among the rap albums, second among the pop albums, over one hundred thousand units sold through digital platforms. Commercially, it's a great success, for Atlantic's happiness.

As for the mixtape, it's a forty minutes heavy listening, split into fourteen tracks. They all sound pretty the same, the trap rhythms are similar, a little decent a little mediocre, and the sound is always cheap and pretty bad quality for a 2020 tape. Congratulations to these twenty different producers for being able to reproduce a basically identical sound throughout the record. This kid doesn't put too much effort into the lyrics, more or less are always the same two braggadocio songs looping with different words, with some random gangsta lines and some badly conceived rnb fillers. Quando Rondo is the only guest on the record and performs effortlessly. Pop rap record that will be forgotten the week after its release, as I write this YoungBoy has come to release his single number fifteen in 2020: it's right to monetize as much as possible as long as you are at the top of the charts, before heading towards Fetty Wap's decline. 4/10.
