Hard to find, after trying a lot I have some gaps left. Not too many (1/5 of the entire tape) to define a general line of what has recently turned out to be the first effort dropped by Conway the Machine.
You can spot several decent rhythms ("Gangsta", "Freestyle"), an interesting ethereal (unsuccessful) production attempt in "I Run da Block" and some bouncy and badly synthesized beats ("I Need Dat") which ruins the East Coast delivery of the MC. The central part isn't exactly successful, with average tracks such as "I Want Yo Head" (triumphant, bare, tight and rhythmic boom bap jazzy, with aggressive rough delivery by Conway that raises the song), "She Crazy", where you are greeted by a bouncy, tense and badly synthesized jazzy rhythm on which the rapper drops a few bars without being properly fit on this production; doesn't help the hook, in a easy-track for club/women.
No better "Hear U Say", which however holds a lighter, almost ballad, simplistic beat, where Conway delivers fluently and more calmly. "Not Like Dis" is one of the lowest points of this tape: skeletal and annoying, poor, cheap jazzy rhythm, a sort of production with the style of DJ Khaled in a minor key and with a subdued tone, whose delivery here doesn't work. Among these tracks, the essential jazzy with a distant soulful background and a decent soul/R&B hook of "Touch Me", is among the best productions of the mixtape.
"Front Back", an attempt to modern jazzy, patinated and refined beat, are positively highlighted, which however still sounds decently rough. The tape continues its qualitative swing with the little successful "Trap n Get Dis Money" (triumphant jazzy rhythm «DJ Khaled in a minor, subdued, poor and weak key»-style, Conway delivers worthily, but the beat represses it; clearly unfit here as well as in the simplistic and similar "I Love Dis Shit") and the slightly superior songs that provide a light, decent jazzy (or jazzy-funky) rhythm, in which Conway and some guests can get better (not even Benny seems to be good on this type of beat).
The Buffalo rapper brings out a mixtape that faithfully reproduces the sound of 2008 ("My Pain Your Glory" has a rhythm of that period, with a skinny and bouncy jazzy rhythm), heavily influenced by the sound of DJ Khaled, whose influence is felt throughout the listening ("She Crazy", "Not Like Dis", "Trap n Get Dis Money", "I Love Dis Shit"), but on which Conway the Machine always finds himself unfit, despite showing a good personality on the mic.
If you listen to it before or after any other Conway releases, you may be shocked because the sound here is completely different from what you would expect. So, not recommended.
