Coherent, vivid, soulful, mainly neo-soul, it presents a basically perfect, clean, jazzy production by Jon Brion who accompanies Mac Miller on his last journey. The rapper's deep lyrics are enhanced by the excellent rhythms of Brion, creating a project with rare gaps and several strengths, from the ethereal and heavenly intro to the rhythm of "Surf", where light synths accompany the verses sung by Mac, the heartbreaking "Once a Day", passing through the plently soulful "I Can See", and the single "Good News", where on a light, barely hinted jazzy rhythm, Mac lets the beat breathe a little, then delivery spoken, slow, in a completely soulful piece on depression; deep song, gloomy, dark, powerful. Iconic, it stands out as the best song of this first 2020. Must-have for every fan, must-listen for the others. 8.3/10.
