Greyson and Jasun are two Slick Rick affiliates who came up with a rap album that isn't really necessary. The cover breathes vibes R&B, but in reality the product is fully hip hop: the production, the work of Vance Wright, is simplistic, skinny, tight and minimal, uses several funky samples (especially James Brown, but also George Clinton and several rap acts) to give a NY tone to the album, while the delivery of the duo is nothing special.
You are in front of your typical generic MCs, when the beat accelerates they accelerate, when the beat slows down you find yourself listening to syncopated bars and effortlessly. Probably the duo want to drop hardcore lyrics, there are some decent ideas, a hip house song ("I Don't Play") and a sexual choice ("Laura"), nevertheless the duo delivers very close to soft-rap. The single that should push the whole project is "Get Bizzy", with Slick Rick, however the track is quite normal and is confused among the others, the performance of the illustrious guest isn't exceptional.
For whatever reason the record passes the pressing test and is released in 1991 by Atlantic Street, it's not the album of the year, but it's fair when compared to all the other rap albums released this season.
Rating: 6/10.
