Achozen is a group formed in Los Angeles, California by RZA (Wu-Tang Clan), Shavo Obadjian (System of a Down), Kinetic 9 aka Beretta 9 (Killarmy) and Reverend William Burke. The group was active from 2005 to 2008, but this EP is released in 2010. Something doesn't add up right away. The beats are often built with live instrumentation performed by Shavo Obadjian and RZA. Guests are Killah Priest (Sunz of Man), Rugged Monk (Black Knights) and Brooklyn Zu, as well as Shukura Holliday and Rayess Bek, Lebanese rapper.
The title track is extracted as a single and has the honor of opening the sci-fi action film "Babylon A.D.", considered one of the flops of 2008 for having struggled to balance the exorbitant budget spent on the production, despite three César, an Oscar and also Vin Diesel in the role of the main character. "Salute/Sacrifice" should also be a single.
This project bored me. RZA tries to go left-field with some experimental and some industrial music and a wack style, luckily no one remembers that this thing actually existed at one point. Discogs says this thing is released by a Russian label that enjoys making mixtapes of Wu-Tang Clan and related groups, so this stuff is far from an official release, that doesn't justify the music being so much poor. Don't waste your time on this stuff. 4/10.
