Debut for Brooklyn-born, Los Angeles-based rapper Jason "AMG" Lewis, with a silly and funny dirty rap album, but which offers few emotions if you are sober. The guy debuts in DJ Quik's "Quik is the Name" and thanks to him, deals with Select Records, recording his first studio album.
It's quite smooth, thanks to a successful production (AMG, Courtney Branch and Tracy Kendrick, with DJ Quik as additional producer), funky, simple and often slow rhythms, with several classic samples and an easy-going delivery, while the theme around which the whole project revolves is that one, practically AMG limits himself to making tracks on that single topic for fifty minutes: his rapping style is generic, lackluster and poor and the limited quantity of arguments obscures the brilliance of a sound panorama at least decent. It's a great commercial success, but it's equally highly misogynist, offensively misogynist. Pushed by four singles, the LP is a commercial success, peaking #20 among rap records. Recommended for fans of 2 Live Crew.
Rating: 4/10.
