Snoop Dogg Presents — Algorithm

In June 2021, Snoop Dogg is hired as an executive by Def Jam and four months later releases a compilation of twenty-five songs, in which he's present in eleven songs and reserves a single solo track for himself.

Jane Handcock participates in three songs as a solo artist, followed by Malaya with two, while Nefertitti Avani, October London, Mount Westmore, HeyDeon and Choc each have a solo track. The other performers are Redman & Method Man, Eric Bellinger, Usher, Fabolous, Dave East, YK Osiris, Blxst, AUGUST 08, Ty Dolla Sign, Bino Rideaux, Benny the Butcher, Jadakiss, Busta Rhymes, Larry June, Mary J. Blige, DJ Cassidy, Battle Loco, Kokane, Prohoezak, Camino, D Smoke and Wiz Khalifa.

The production is done by Battlecat, Rick Rock, Hi-Tek, Terrace Martin, Soopafly and Nottz, among others: their rhythms sound better than usual, in a record that is a mix of soul, rnb, trap and rap songs. The rnb tracks are in the majority. Among the hip-hop songs stand out "Big Subwoofer", a song by the Mount Westmore supergroup (E-40, Too Short, Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg) which is good, but it's not the hit it promises to be; "Murder Music", thug song with Benny, Jada and Busta Rhymes on a good beat; finally, "Qualified", Larry June & Snoop worthily run on a competent production of Nottz. The rest is subdued and underwhelming, Snoop's solo cut is one of the worst here. Red & Meth are still trying to replicate "Da Rockwilder" after more than twenty years and are overtaken by an agile and fresh delivery of Nefertitti Avani. 4/10.
