Refreshed by the new lifeblood that brought him the feud with Eminem, Machine Gun Kelly releases his fourth studio album.
There are a lot of dudes behind the keyboards, but unlike his previous projects, the overall soundscape offered by producers is very good, there is good music, it's remarkable. Lyrically, he tackles many of his personal problems and writes suitably competent lyrics, failing to interpret them with his most inspired performance; he sounds bland, bored, very tired: most of the time he sings and talks and as a singer he's not evil. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a good voice or a good rapping style and when he raps he's really bad, but the guy could make a fresh career as a neo-soul singer or emo rapper or something. The intro is a good track with Twin Peaks vibes, then the rest is a questionable mix of pop rap, rap rock and trap material with some interesting tracks amidst generic junk. Released by EST 19xx, Bad Boy and Interscope, the disc is distributed by Universal: it's charted in three continents, throughout Europe, it's strong in the Baltic, fifth in the pop chart, third among rap albums. Recommended to fans, it's undoubtedly one of his best releases, if not the best.
Rating: 4/10.
