Che Noir — After 12 EP

Third effort that completes a top season for the Buffalo rapper Che Noir. The artist produces this EP entirely, boasting collaborations with The Musalini, Ransom, 38 Spesh, Jynx, RJ Payne, Sa-Roc and Amber Simone.

Sample from "Foxy Brown" (1974) for intro, then The Musalini offers a hook on the energetic jazzy boom bap of "Cruise Control", great samples, perfect drum, slow smoothness delivery of Che Noir, the rapper shows in shape. The next cut boasts another energetic jazzy beat, with good samples, tight drum, Che Noir's smooth flowing slow delivery, great velvet fast delivery by Ransom who eats the beat, great flow; 38 Spesh closes with a good attack, he rips the track with an extra-verse.

Jynx is the host of "Reasons", jazzy rhythm left to breathe, light slow drum, rapper's slow flowing dope delivery on most pounding drum machine, chorus left to sample, then Jynx with an honest style in the second verse. "Divine Knowledge" is Che Noir's only solo song, short: amazing female soul sample in the background, jazzy boom bap, slow drum, energetic flowing slow delivery, dope cut.

It follows "Moment in the Sun", beautiful female soul sample looped in the background, perfect drum, slow and lean, wonderful samples, smooth and tight delivery of Che Noir; good hardcore slow delivery by RJ Payne, closes Sa-Roc, in the longest and, possibly, the best track of the edition: skit after Payne's verse, then the rhythm subsides and is replaced by an elegant light piano, for Sa-Roc's socio-conscious smooth hardcore delivery, which closes with an extra-verse, before the piano outro, wonderful piece. Amber Simone offers an introductory rnb hook on a lush soundscape for the final choice, with a great attack from Che Noir, yet another dope delivery.

Tape composed of seven cuts for a total of 22 minutes, all the rhythms have electro-disco-dance vibes, fresh, beautiful EP. Che Noir maintains a solid braggadocio lyricism and proves to be an excellent producer. 8/10.
