Al Kapone — Sinista Funk

Third, probably third studio album by Memphis rapper Al Kapone, who in the crowded city cassette scene managed to stand out from all the others thanks to his original sound.

Alphonzo Bailey doesn't change it, and indeed, he continues to approach Houston and Compton to build his own music, starting his new CD from Miami, Florida, going to sample the magical main theme of the movie "Scarface" for the intro, original music by Giorgio Moroder, always fantastic song (and artist). In the next ten choices, the MC is good at what he does, rapping in a slow, syncopated and smooth way about drugs, murder and other gangsta related themes.

The production, as already mentioned, is centered on funky beats, with relaxed mobb extracts, melodic, dark and plaintive samples, cheap g-funk synths, and midtempo drums, grumpy, light, minimal, tight and pounding. These meager elements make up a funky and somber musical carpet, which takes root in Memphis, but isn't really Memphis, and is nonetheless a solid foundation for a coherent three-quarter-hour disk, 7.5/10.
