DITC — D.I.T.C. The Remix Project

2014. DITC returns six years after the failure of "The Movement" with a remix album that resonates in the mid-nineties, with jazzy, funky, often essential and dark rhythms. Behind the keyboards there are Alchemist, Bink, Apollo Brown, DJ Premier, 9th Wonder, Marco Polo and O Gee to throw down some mixes with the DITC. The guests are Big Pun, KRS-One and Party Arty.

The heavy, gloomy and dystopian jazzy production provided by Alchemist's "We All" is among the best tracks here, but in general no one looks bad. When Buckwild (idol!) drops a dark, tense and almost mafioso jazzy beat for just one of an unstoppable Big L slick verse, the diamond that comes out of this awesome effort seems the strongest cut heard until then, even better than the remix of "DITC" by Premier, of the soulful vibes pulls out by 9th Wonder and of the wonderful soulful jazzy rhythm pulled out by Apollo Brown. Big L is the main rapper of the effort, appearing in half the tracks, along with A.G., followed by Fat Joe (6), OC (5), Lord Finesse (3), Diamond D (3) and Showbiz (2). Released by DITC Ent. and Slice-of-Spice, it's a good tape for DITC fans. 7/10.
