Third studio album for the Poor Righteous Teachers, authors of the lyrics and most of the production, with a third of the album left in the hands of Tony D.
The rhythms are pretty simple for the period, boom bap, drum lean slow syncopated, jazzy samples, making up the typical East Coast sound. On this sonic carpet, Wise Intelligent and his friends drop positive socio-conscious bars with beauty styled, great flow. It would easily be among the best albums of the year, if it weren't for the choice of continually inserting extravagant elements in the tracks, eclectic drums, strange sounds in the background, extravagant bridges and extravagant samples, sometimes bordering on annoyance.
In the first half of the record, the only tune that isn't plagued by these annoying commercial mistakes is "Nobody Move", easily the best track and single of the record: commercial pop hook sung with shrill sax samples, tight looped, boom bap energetic, slow drum machine, good velvet delivery of the emcee. Album of about 50 minutes, 12 songs, lengthened with some ragga fillers that are never necessary which reduces the quality of the LP. Released by Profile, has discreet commercial success.
Highlights: "Nobody Move", "Here We Go Again", "Ghetto We Love".
Rating: 7/10.
