Dark Sun Riders — Seeds of Evolution

Brother J forms a new group after the dissolution of X Clan and together with him there are Master China the Damu, Ultraman the Groove Tweeker and DJ M.A.T.E. the Do Dat Scientist.

The new group, Dark Sun Riders, is linked to the legacy of X Clan both thematically, with lyrics close to socio-political themes, and musically, with tough, dry production complemented by some nice keyboards and basslines from Sergio Vega and Rich Tozzoli, which gives prominence to the performance of Brother J and confirms him as a brilliant lyricist. Released by Island Records, the album retains a formula that includes a skit for each song, it has no particular weak points and is ultimately a coherent addition to the first two CDs released by X Clan in the early nineties, although not as militant as the others. 6/10.
