Slice-of-Spice and DITC Ent. publish this new album by Diggin' in the Crates Crew. The set of rhythms is made by DJ Manipulator, Supa Ugly, Motif Alumni, Vinny Idol, Lord Finesse, DJ Premier, Diamond D, Buckwild and Showbiz. The guests are Tay Bell, Pharoahe Monch, A Bless and David Bars.
Big L opens this modern work by DITC on a great jazzy soulful boom bap synthesized lightly. A good energetic hardcore cut follows with Finesse, Diamond D and Fat Joe. "Night Rider" relives those nostalgic jazzy underground vibes, tense beat, glossy, modernized with OC & Pharoahe Monch.
Joe returns over a cheerful jazzy production that seems to be heading to the club, perhaps the weakest song in the litter — despite a good jazzy soul bridge on the hook. "Make 'Em So Proud" is on another level with its jazzy soulful amazing beat. Joe makes mediocre the good rhythm chosen by Finesse for the remix of "Diggin 'Numbers" and "It's Cold Outside", while Premier finds a wonderful jazzy production for the remix of "Connect 3".
Several solid tracks lead by AG in the dark, jamesbondian fog ("Brolic"), tense ("We Started Everything"), light, technique ("Gotta Be Classic"; good work by Show here in a sharp, great track), tight ("Worldwide"; perfect syncopated rhythm for him that performs well). Guests help AG to take home the songs, there's to highlight the solid and tenacious presence of OC, he's omnipresent and brilliant, with few slips, he often shows himself in shape, clean, smoothness, in a state of grace: on the jazzy/soulful rhythms he gives his best, basically iconic in the oriental-esque "Read the Book", while "Wake Up" is a tune of the duo that comes close to the classic status thanks to an amazingly sick jazzy beat.
Andre the Giant is the main emcee of this DITC disk appearing in 12 tracks out of 15 (8 in a row), preceding OC (11), Fat Joe (5), Diamond D (4) and Lord Finesse (1).
Rating: 7/10.
