DITC — Unreleased Production 1994

Compilation of unreleased works from 1994 with cuts of Fat Joe, Armageddon, Terror Tongue, 40oz & Amed, Silky Black, Page, Deshawn, the Ghetto Dwellas, and Lord Finesse. The beatmakers are Showbiz, Diamond D, Lord Finesse, Amed and Buckwild.

The production is particularly brilliant, maintaining a vivid mid-nineties jazzy sound, light ("Lyrical Threat", "My Style"), bleak, dark, tight ("Mass Hysteria", "Step Up and Get Some"), with little Christmas bells in evidence ("Down for the Crown") or watching in the background ("Snakes"), often well executed and created to adapt to guests: for "Feel the Beat", Showbiz manufactures a perfect carpet for Party Arty, which in fact it opens with arrogance, rough, raw, with a disturbing delivery that goes hand in hand with the rhythm.

"Big Apple Gone Rotten" has a great Showbiz production, jazzy tight boom bap, rhythmic, Fat Joe [da Gangsta, yet] delivers hardcore, Armageddon doesn't disappoint. The remix, by Showbiz, is tight and dark, with bleak bells and horn, almost claustrophobic. It makes sensation, but the rhythm seems less than the original. "Just One of Those Days" is one of the best cuts: great jazzy boom bap, party vibes, amazingly genial of Finesse, beat left to breathe long and intelligently. Xmas bells are the touch of grace that elevates the song. To note the two tracks of Finesse, automatically among the best here. 6/10.
