Shabazz the Disciple's first studio album released under Chambermusik / Chambermusik Special Products, second if considering the compilation "The Vault" (2008), and also through the symbol of the supergroup made with his hands, the artist demonstrates that he has officially reconciled with the Wu-Tang world.
Credits are unclear regarding either production or guests: alongside the author at the mic should be his cousin Freestyle, Yay-Yay, Murdoc of Brooklyn Zu, Zodiak, Jabril (Hookmaster), Kaot'f and Meglinda. Behind the keyboards there are the names of Earth, Boogie, A Skillz & Jabril, Broken Halo, Focus, Hear No Evil, Shawneci, Snoowgoons, Godz Wrath, DJ-Mo-B and Notts.
It would be interesting to understand at least what the rhythms of Godz Wrath are, because in the past Shabazz claimed to have recorded with the production team an entire album that would be welcomed as the new "Illmatic", shortly before diss Nas in a unknown compilation created by Le Greck in the song "My Hood Said Knock You Out". The boom bap production doesn't feel superior to that present in the rapper's previous works, it's discreet and nothing more, the emcee worthily delivers lyrics revolving around biblical, street, religious, spiritual, and thug themes, and it's clearly understood once again that the boy doesn't know how to make hooks, one of his weak points in the construction of tracks. He also subtracts the title track from his 2006 street album to put it on this LP, then "Pankration" sounds like a great closing in a non-essential effort for Wu-stans.
Rating: 6/10.
