MC Money & Gangsta Gold — Da "Hard" on Frayser

Unique project released by the rappers MC Money and Gangsta Gold, entirely produced by DJ Sound and with guests such as Lil Bay, Nigga Creep and Dirty Red.

Eleven tracks, illmaticly lenght, with intro, outro, interlude, shout outs. This Frayser Click album comes out much stronger than most of the others from the Memphis scene and settles into the hottest tapes of the 1995 season in hip-hop. The selection of beats provided by DJ Sound is simply sensational, very dark, dreary, minimal, mesmerizing, perfect for the flow of the two girls, that deliver bars with a slow, calm, velvety, almost ethereal style, on criminal and violent topics that have written the history of the Memphis scene. Originally released in 1995 and then as "Da Hard ov Frayser" again in 2006 by Lite Green (unofficially) and in 2021 by Trill Hill, the tape showcases the remarkable talents of DJ Sound in production, here on a par with the best producers of that time, and those of MC Money and Gangsta Gold, arguably the best female duo you've never heard of. This album deserves to be rediscovered and appreciated by fans, it shines, shines a lot in its own dark mood. 8.5/10.
